Hazelnut Creme Brulee Recipe

Ingredients
  • 1/3 c granulated sugar .
  • 2 tbsps hazelnut syrup .
  • 8 egg yolks .
  • 1/4 c superfine sugar .
  • 1/2 c hazelnut-flavored liquid coffee creamer .
  • 1 tsp pure vanilla extract .
  • 1 1/2 c heavy whipping cream

Directions
  • Step #1 preheat your trusty oven to 300.
  • Step #2 In a large-ish bowl, whisk together egg yolks & 1/3 c of sugar until the sugar has dissolved & the mixture is thick & pale yellow.
  • Step #3 add cream, syrup & vanilla, creamer,and continue to whisk until well mixed.
  • Step #4 strain into a large bowl, skimming off any foam or bubbles.
  • Step #5 divide mixture among 6 ramekins or custard c.
  • Step #6 place a paper towel in the bottom of a 9 by 13 inch baking dish so the ramekins do not slide.
  • Step #7 put the ramekins on the paper towel.
  • Step #8 to make a water bath pour look warm water into pan until about halfway up the side of the ramekins.
  • Step #9 bake this until set around edges but still a little loose in the very center (think jello), about 40 to 50 mins.
  • Step #10 remove this from oven & let cool in water bath chill for at least 2 hrs or up to 2 days.
  • Step #11 when ready to serve, sprinkle about 2 tsps of superfine sugar over each custard.
  • Step #12 for best results use a hand held torch to melt & lightly brown sugar.
  • Step #13 rechill custard for a few mins before serving.
  • Step #14 if you do not have a torch place under a broiler until sugar melts.
