Stuffed And Grilled Abura-age [tofu] Recipe

Ingredients
  • 1 garlic clove, grated .
  • 4 spring onions, trimmed, sliced fine .
  • 500 g tofu (abura age) .
  • 1 tbsp shoyu .
  • 3 tbsps toasted sesame seeds .
  • Filling

Directions
  • Step #1 To open the abura-age use a round bladed knife & insert carefully to open.
  • Step #2 Put in sieve & pour hot water in kettle over it to wash off excess oil.
  • Step #3 Put one slice on chopping board & roll over several times with a rolling pin then cut carefully to make two bags.
  • Step #4 Repeat with remaining pieces.
  • Step #5 Mix the filling in a bowl.
  • Step #6 Check & add more shoyu if needed.
  • Step #7 Fill the bags with the filling.
  • Step #8 Grill or broil under a preheated grill or broiler for 3-4 mins on high ON EACH SIDE.
  • Step #9 It should be crisp & lightly browned.
  • Step #10 Cut each bag into four triangles.
  • Step #11 Arrange on 4 small plates.
  • Step #12 Serve hot.
