1 c canned sliced mushrooms, well drained (or to taste) .
1 1/2 lbs Italian sausages, casings removed (mild or spicy) .
1 green bell pepper, seeded & sliced .
1 tbsp minced fresh garlic (or to taste) .
1 1/2 c flour .
1 onion, sliced .
2 eggs, lightly beaten .
1 tsp dried Italian seasoning .
1/2 c grated parmesan cheese, divided (can use more) .
1 tsp salt .
2/3 c milk .
1/2 tsp black pepper .
1/2 tsp baking powder .
1 pinch cayenne pepper (optional) .
2 c pizza sauce (can use more, see my Kittencal's Pizza Sauce) .
2 c shredded mozzarella cheese (or to taste)
Directions
Step #1 Set oven to 350 degrees.
Step #2 In a large skillet cook the sausage meat with onion, bell pepper & garlic until browned, stirring to break up the meat; drain fat & set aside.
Step #3 Grease a 14-inch round deep-dish pizza pan then dust lightly with flour.
Step #4 In a medium bowl mix together the flour with baking powder, Italian seasoning, salt, black pepper & cayenne pepper (if using) add in milk & eggs, stir until well mixed.
Step #5 Pour the mixture into the prepared pan tilting pan as necessary so that the batter covers the bottom of the pan.
Step #6 Sprinkle top the top of the batter with 1/4 c parmesan cheese, then sprinkle the sausage mixture & sliced mushrooms over the batter & cheese.
Step #7 Bake at 350 degrees for about 25-30 mins or until pizza is golden brown.
Step #8 Remove from oven & drizzle with pizza sauce, then 1/4 c grated parmesan cheese & then top this with grated mozza cheese; return to oven & bake about 8 mins or until the crust is a deep golden brown & the cheese is melted.
