Chocolate Cream Cake Recipe

Ingredients
  • 1/2 c butter, softened .
  • Cream Filling .
  • 1 c water .
  • 3 tbsps cornstarch .
  • 1 c sugar .
  • 1/2 c shortening .
  • 1/2 c vegetable oil .
  • 1/3 c baking cocoa .
  • 1 tsp vanilla .
  • 1 1/4 c sugar .
  • 1 1/4 c water .
  • 3 tbsps butter, cubed .
  • Glaze .
  • 1 tsp vanilla .
  • 3 eggs .
  • 1 (18 1/4 oz) package devil's food cake mix .
  • 3/4 c milk

Directions
  • Step #1 Prepare & bake cake according to package directions using water, oil & eggs.
  • Step #2 Pour batter into greased & floured 9 x 13 pan.
  • Step #3 After baking, let cool completely before inverting onto wire rack.
  • Step #4 For filling, cream butter, shortening & sugar until light & fluffy.
  • Step #5 Heat milk to 140° & add to creamed mixture.
  • Step #6 Beat until sugar is dissolved, then stir in the vanilla.
  • Step #7 Split cake into two horizontal layers, spread filling over bottom cake layer.
  • Step #8 Top with remaining cake layer.
  • Step #9 For glaze, cocoa, mix sugar, cornstarch & water until smooth.
  • Step #10 Bring to a boil over med-heat/flame stirring constantly.
  • Step #11 Cook & stir until thickened.
  • Step #12 Remove from heat & stir in the butter & vanilla.
  • Step #13 Cool until lukewarm, spread over cake.
  • Step #14 Let stand.
  • Step #15 Serve or put in the fridge.
