Chocolate Cake Squares With Eggnog Sauce Recipe

Ingredients
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract .
  • 1 c buttermilk .
  • 1 1/2 tsps baking soda .
  • 1/4 c butter or margarine, softened .
  • 3/4 c boiling water .
  • 3/4 c hershey's cocoa .
  • 3 dashes ground nutmeg .
  • 1/4 c shortening .
  • 2 c sugar .
  • powdered sugar .
  • 2 eggs .
  • 2 tbsps cold water .
  • 1/4 tsp vanilla extract .
  • 1 3/4 c all-purpose flour .
  • 1/8 tsp salt .
  • 1/4 tsp brandy extract .
  • eggnog sauce recipe .
  • 1 1/3 c milk .
  • 1/4 c sugar .
  • 3 egg yolks, beaten .
  • 1 tbsp cornstarch

Directions
  • Step #1 Heat oven to 350°F Grease & flour 13x9x2-inch baking pan.
  • Step #2 Stir baking soda into buttermilk in medium bowl; set aside.
  • Step #3 Stir together cocoa & water until smooth; set aside.
  • Step #4 Beat butter, shortening & sugar in large bowl until creamy.
  • Step #5 Add eggs, vanilla & salt; beat well.
  • Step #6 Add buttermilk mixture alternately with flour to butter mixture, beating until mixed.
  • Step #7 Add cocoa mixture; mix thoroughly.
  • Step #8 Pour batter into prepared pan.
  • Step #9 Bake 40 to 45 mins or until wooden pick inserted in center comes out clean.
  • Step #10 Cool completely.
  • Step #11 Sprinkle top powdered sugar over top.
  • Step #12 Serve with EGGNOG SAUCE.
  • Step #13 12 to 15 servings.
  • Step #14 EGGNOG SAUCE.
  • Step #15 Stir cornstarch & water in saucepan until smooth.
  • Step #16 Add milk, sugar & egg yolks.
  • Step #17 Beat with whisk until well mixed.
  • Step #18 Cook over med-heat/flame, stirring constantly, until thickened.
  • Step #19 Remove from heat.
  • Step #20 Stir in extracts.
  • Step #21 Cool completely.
  • Step #22 Sprinkle top nutmeg over top.
  • Step #23 About 1-3/4 c sauce.
