Sun Dried Tomato Cheese Burgers Recipe

Ingredients
  • 4 wheat hamburger buns .
  • 1/2 c sun-dried tomatoes packed in oil, packed (drained & sliced, save the oil) .
  • extra virgin olive oil .
  • condiments .
  • 1 lb ground turkey breast or lean ground beef .
  • 1/2 tsp cumin .
  • 2-4 fresh garlic cloves (minced) .
  • 1 1/2 red onions, thinly sliced .
  • 1/2 medium onion (minced) .
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper .
  • 1/2 tsp sea salt .
  • 3 tbsps fresh basil .
  • 1 c lettuce, finely shredded .
  • 1/4 c red wine vinegar .
  • 4 slices reduced-fat monterey jack cheese

Directions
  • Step #1 Mix ground beef, cumin, basil, sliced tomatoes, garlic, sea salt, onion, & pepper in large bowl.
  • Step #2 Cover up with saran wrap & put in the fridge 1 hr.
  • Step #3 Set grill to medium heat.
  • Step #4 Heat reserved tomato oil in skillet over med-heat/flame.
  • Step #5 Add onions & saute 5 mins or until transluscent.
  • Step #6 Add vinegar, salt & pepper.
  • Step #7 Simmer 10 mins, stirring so onions don't burn, until onions are well browned.
  • Step #8 Form ground meat into 4 patties.
  • Step #9 Grill 5-6 mins each side until cooked through.
  • Step #10 Top with cheese & place on buns with favorite condiments & lettuce.
  • Step #11 Top with browned onions.
