Ingredients
  • 1/4 c unsalted butter, at about room temp .
  • 16 oz tomato sauce (best quality, not that generic stuff) .
  • 1/2 tsp dried oregano or basil .
  • 1/2 tsp salt (to taste) .
  • 1/4 c parmesan cheese, freshly grated plus extra for serving .
  • 1/4 tsp crushed red pepper flakes .
  • 1/2 c basil leaves, fresh coarsely sliced .
  • 1 lb pasta (fettuccine, penne rigati, linguine or spaghetti)

Directions
  • Step #1 Combine tomato sauce, salt, butter, oregano, crushed red pepper & Parmesan cheese in a pasta serving bowl.
  • Step #2 Set aside to warm up (use a method described above).
  • Step #3 Cook pasta In a large-ish pot of boiling, salted water until al dente.
  • Step #4 Drain pasta & as soon as possible add to sauce in bowl.
  • Step #5 Sprinkle top with sliced basil & toss.
  • Step #6 Serve at once with extra Parmesan cheese.
