Egyptian Style Breaded Thin Steak (buftek) Recipe

Ingredients
  • fine breadcrumbs (add a spoon of flour to these) .
  • 1 large onion (pureed to liquid) .
  • 1/2 lb thinly sliced steaks (very thin, & not fatty) .
  • salt & pepper .
  • oil (for frying)

Directions
  • Step #1 Wash & lb your steaks to very thin & flat.
  • Step #2 (Here our butchers do it for us, maybe you could ask?).
  • Step #3 Put steaks into glass dish.
  • Step #4 Add the pureed onion, salt & pepper, cover & let sit all day or at least 4 hrs in the refrigerator.
  • Step #5 Put breadcrumb/flour mixture into a deep dish, get a clean plate to breaded steaks on.
  • Step #6 Dip each steak in mixture coating well on both sides & reserve all to clean plate.
  • Step #7 When all breaded, heat oil to medium high heat & fry until golden brown on both sides.
  • Step #8 Serve along side pasta or your favorite rice dish.
