Spaghetti Sauce Recipe

Ingredients
  • 3/4 c low sodium beef broth .
  • 1 (2 7/8 liter) can pasta sauce (or 3-4 cans of 680 ml) .
  • 1/2 tsp sage .
  • 3 bay leaves .
  • 3 (1 g) packets Splenda sugar substitute or 2 tbsps sugar .
  • 1 (796 ml) can whole tomatoes .
  • 2 tbsps olive oil .
  • 1 tsp season salt .
  • 2 (796 ml) cans sliced tomatoes .
  • 1 1/2-2 onions, medium, sliced .
  • 8 garlic cloves .
  • 1/2 tsp red pepper flakes (add more if you want it hotter) .
  • 2 tbsps oregano .
  • 2 green peppers, sliced .
  • 1-2 tbsp olive oil (for sauteing) .
  • 2 (8 oz) mushrooms, fresh .
  • 1 tbsp italian seasoning .
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper .
  • 4-5 Italian sausages, remove casings (optional) .
  • 3-4 lbs ground beef .
  • 1 red pepper, sliced .
  • 2 1/2 tbsps basil .
  • 4 (156 ml) cans tomato paste .
  • 3 tbsps parsley .
  • 1-2 tsp Frank's red hot sauce (optional)

Directions
  • Step #1 Turn element on to min & empty the first 4 ingredients into a very large pot.
  • Step #2 Add the next 13 ingredients to the pot of sauce.
  • Step #3 Using some olive oil, sauté each separately the mushrooms, red pepper, green pepper, onions & garlic.
  • Step #4 Stir everything together & let simmer while you do the next step.
  • Step #5 Brown ground beef until no longer pink & then add to pot.
  • Step #6 If you are using sausages, remove casings, brown meat & drain grease.
  • Step #7 Simmer all ingredients for 1 ½ - 2 hrs.
  • Step #8 Serve for dinner with a nice garden salad & bread.
  • Step #9 After sauce has cooled, separate into freezable container for future dinners.
