Cookie Bowl Recipe

Ingredients
  • 1/4 c butter, softened
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 1/4 c all-purpose flour
  • 2/3 c white sugar
  • 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/2 c unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1/4 c sliced almonds
  • 1 egg, beaten

Directions
  • Step #1 Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).
  • Step #2 Turn a 9x5 inch loaf pan or metal bowl upside down & cover the outside with foil.
  • Step #3 Place onto a cookie sheet.
  • Step #4 Stir together the flour, cocoa, salt & almonds; set aside.
  • Step #5 In a medium bowl, cream together the butter & sugar until smooth.
  • Step #6 Beat in the egg & vanilla.
  • Step #7 Gradually stir in the the dry ingredients to form a fairly stiff dough.
  • Step #8 On a lightly floured surface, roll the dough out to 1/4 inch in thickness.
  • Step #9 Cut into circles using a glass or cookie cutter.
  • Step #10 Starting at the top (bottom) of the pan or bowl, arrange cookies so they are overlapping.
  • Step #11 Work toward the edges covering as much of the pan as you can.
  • Step #12 Be sure to press each cookie on so you will have a good solid bowl.
  • Step #13 Bake for 10 to 15 mins in the preheated oven, until cookies are firm.
  • Step #14 Cool completely.
  • Step #15 Carefully turn the pan over & remove the pan from the foil, then carefully remove the foil from inside the cookie structure.
  • Step #16 Fill with cookie or candy.
