Pork Chops With Apples And Swiss Recipe

Ingredients
  • 2 apples, cored & thickly sliced .
  • 4 whole cloves .
  • 4 celery ribs, washed & sliced finely .
  • 2 bay leaves .
  • 4 oz swiss cheese or jarlsberg cheese, coarsely grated .
  • 1/2 c dry white wine (can sub vermouth) .
  • 1 tbsp butter .
  • 4 celery leaves .
  • 1 tbsp brown sugar .
  • 4 medium pork chops

Directions
  • Step #1 Preheat the oven to 375F & butter a baking pan.
  • Step #2 Press a clove into each chop, followed by the wine, celery leaves, then add the chops to the pan, & bay leaves.
  • Step #3 Bake the chops for 30 mins.
  • Step #4 Meanwhile, heat the butter in a frying pan & saute the sliced celery for 5 mins, tehn add the apples & brown sugar.
  • Step #5 Turn the heat to low & cook for 10 mins, or until just tender.
  • Step #6 After 30 mins, remove the pork chops, discard the bay & celery leaves & sprinkle cheese on each chop.
  • Step #7 Baste with juices & broil a few mins to brown.
  • Step #8 Add a few pan juices to the apple-celery mixture, & serve as a side with the pork chops.
