Step #2 To make the crust, in a bowl, beat ¾ c butter & brown sugar using electric mixer on medium speed until mixd.
Step #3 Beat in the egg yolk; stir in the the flour & salt with a wooden spoon until well mixed.
Step #4 Using floured hands, press dough into bottom of prepared baking pan.
Step #5 Bake at 350° for 20 mins or until light brown; cool on a wire rack.
Step #6 To make the filling: in a saucepan, heat & stir the sweetened condensed milk & 2 tbsps butter over med-heat/flame until bubbly; cook & stir 5 mins more (mixture will thicken & become smooth).
Step #7 Stir in vanilla; spread filling over baked crust.
Step #8 Bake 12-15 mins more or until top layer is golden brown.
Step #9 Sprinkle top chocolate pieces evenly over the top; bake for 1-2 more mins or until chocolate pieces melt.
Step #10 Remove from oven; set on a wire rack.
Step #11 Using a flexible spatula, as soon as possible spread chocolate evenly over baked layers; sprinkle with almond brickle pieces.
Step #12 Cool completely on a wire rack; cover & chill until chocolate is set; cut into squares or triangles.
