1 (10 oz) can pillsbury pizza dough, in put in the fridged section .
24 slices pepperoni .
1 c mozzarella cheese, shredded .
1 tsp crushed red pepper flakes .
1/2 green bell pepper, finely sliced .
unflavored cooking spray .
1 tbsp extra-virgin olive oil (EVOO) .
1 small onion, finely sliced
Directions
Step #1 Preheat oven to 375°F.
Step #2 In a small saucepot over medium-high heat with 1 tbsp of EVOO, pepper & crushed red pepper flakes, add the onions, stirring every now & then until soft, about 4 mins.
Step #3 Add the fire-roasted tomatoes & season this with salt & pepper.
Step #4 Bring to a bubble & let simmer for about 10 mins.
Step #5 Once the sauce is going, unroll the pizza dough onto a lightly floured surface & stretch to make an even rectangle.
Step #6 In an even layer, on half of the dough, place the pepperoni down leaving a 1-inch border & sprinkle with about 1/2 c of the mozzarella cheese.
Step #7 Fold the other half of the dough over & press the edges carefully down seal.
Step #8 With your hands, carefully pat down the folded dough.
Step #9 Using a knife or a pizza cutter, cut 8 to 10 thin strips, about 1-inch thick.
Step #10 Holding each end of the strip, twist it a few times & place on a baking sheet.
Step #11 Spray the entire tray, with cooking spray & place this in the oven until golden brown in color, including the twists, about 10-15 mins.
Step #12 Remove from the oven & serve this with the dipping sauce.
