Italian Sausage Stuffing Casserole Recipe

Ingredients
  • 1/2 lb mild italian ground sausage .
  • 1 egg, lightly beaten .
  • 1/4 c butter .
  • 2 c chicken broth .
  • 6 c herb seasoned bread stuffing mix (cube type) .
  • 2 garlic cloves, minced .
  • 1/2 medium onion, sliced .
  • 1/4 c parmesan cheese .
  • 1/4 c green bell peppers, sliced .
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper .
  • 1 c sliced celery

Directions
  • Step #1 Preheat oven to 325ºF.
  • Step #2 Butter a 2 quart baking dish.
  • Step #3 In a large skillet, cook sausage over med-heat/flame until no longer pink; drain & remove this from skillet.
  • Step #4 Set aside.
  • Step #5 Pour any grease from skillet & melt butter.
  • Step #6 Add celery & onion & saute until slightly tender, 2-3 mins.
  • Step #7 Stir in the green pepper & garlic & continue to saute until all veggies are tender.
  • Step #8 In a large bowl, sausage, mix the stuffing, celery mixture, cheese & pepper.
  • Step #9 Add broth & egg & toss to mix.
  • Step #10 Spoon into prepared dish, cover & bake for 35 mins.
  • Step #11 Uncover & bake an extra 10-15 mins or until lightly browned.
