Granny's Chocolate Cherry Cake Recipe

Ingredients
  • 1 tsp vanilla .
  • 1/2 c margarine .
  • 6 tbsps milk .
  • 1 (16 oz) box powdered sugar .
  • 1 tsp vanilla .
  • 3 tbsps baking cocoa .
  • Cake .
  • 2 eggs .
  • Frosting .
  • 18 oz devil's food cake mix or fudge cake mix .
  • 1 (21 oz) can cherry pie filling

Directions
  • Step #1 Combine cake mix, eggs, vanilla & cherry pie filling, mix until well-mixed.
  • Step #2 Pour into a greased & floured 9x13 inch cake pan.
  • Step #3 Bake in preheated 350 degree oven for 40 mins.
  • Step #4 While still hot, spread with the frosting.
  • Step #5 For frosting, stir over low heat/flame, the margarine & cocoa until almost boiling.
  • Step #6 Do not boil.
  • Step #7 Remove from heat & stir in the sugar, milk & vanilla.
  • Step #8 Mix well until smooth.
  • Step #9 Pour over the hot cake & spread evenly.
  • Step #10 Serve as soon as possible or cover with foil wrap & put in the fridge.
  • Step #11 Keeps well for several days, if it lasts that long.
