Pasta Alla Amatriciana Recipe

Ingredients
  • 4 slices thick-cut bacon, sliced .
  • 1 lb spaghetti, cooked or other pastas, strands cooked .
  • 1 (28 oz) can sliced tomatoes, undrained .
  • 2 garlic cloves, minced (my addition) .
  • 1/2 tsp crushed red pepper flakes .
  • grated parmesan cheese, to serve .
  • 1 large onion, sliced

Directions
  • Step #1 Cook pasta according to directions.
  • Step #2 Cook bacon in a wide frying pan over medium-high heat, stirring often, just until fat is rendered (3-5 mins).
  • Step #3 Add onion; cook, stirring often until soft (about 5 mins).
  • Step #4 Stir in garlic & red pepper flakes & cook for 1 min.
  • Step #5 Stir in tomatoes with their liquid.
  • Step #6 Bring to a boil; reduce heat & let simmer, stirring every once in awhile, until slightly thickened.
  • Step #7 Gently toss pasta with sauce.
  • Step #8 Serve with grated parmesan cheese.
