Easy But Good Chili
Ingredients
2 onions, sliced fine .
1 pinch paprika .
2 c chicken broth .
1 tbsp vegetable oil .
1/4 tsp allspice .
1 tbsp dried oregano .
2 tsps dark brown sugar .
1 tsp salt, plus more to taste .
1 1/2 lbs extra lean ground beef .
2 tbsps tomato paste .
1 garlic clove, minced .
2 c canned tomato sauce .
2 tbsps chili powder .
2 tbsps cider vinegar .
3/4 tsp pepper .
1 1/2 tsps cinnamon
Directions
Step #1 Heat oil in Dutch oven over medium-high heat until shimmering.
Step #2 Cook onions in oil until soft & browned around edges, about 8 mins.
Step #3 Add garlic, cinnamon,1 tsp salt, chili powder, tomato paste, oregano, pepper & allspice.
Step #4 Cook until fragrant, about 1 min.
Step #5 Stir in chicken broth, tomato sauce, vinegar & sugar.
Step #6 Add beef & stir this to break up meat.
Step #7 Bring to a boil, reduce heat to medium-low & let simmer until chili is deep brown & slightly thickened, 15 to 20 mins.
Step #8 Spice up with salt.
Step #9 Serve over a bed of cooked spaghetti.
Step #10 Top with oyster crackers, warmed canned beans, coarsly sliced onion & grated cheddar cheese.
Step #11 Add a pinch of paprika atop the cheese.
