Fran's Caramel Apples Recipe

Ingredients

1 (15 oz) can sweetened condensed milk .
1 dash salt .
1 tsp vanilla .
2 1/2 c brown sugar .
1 c margarine .
1 c light Karo syrup

Directions

Step #1 Add all ingredients (except vanilla) to a saucepan.
Step #2 Cook; stirring constantly on medium heat until the mixture reaches 235* (firm ball stage).
Step #3 Stir the vanilla into mixture after you take this off the heat.
Step #4 Roll apples in caramel mixture & set on wax paper to cool.
Step #5 Makes 2 ½ lbs caramels or about 20 small apples.
