Brunch On The Bayou Recipe

Ingredients
  • 355 ml whole milk .
  • red pepper flakes .
  • 110 g Italian sausage, casings removed .
  • 3 green onions, sliced .
  • 10 ml Dijon mustard .
  • 10 eggs .
  • 50 g parmesan cheese .
  • salt & pepper .
  • 230 g sour cream .
  • 45 g butter, melted .
  • 1 loaf day-old French bread, broken into small pieces .
  • 80 ml white wine .
  • 455 g shredded monterey jack cheese

Directions
  • Step #1 Place sausage in a skillet over medium-high heat.
  • Step #2 Cook, stirring constantly until evenly browned.
  • Step #3 Drain grease, & set aside.
  • Step #4 Spread bread pieces in the bottom of a 9x13 inch baking dish.
  • Step #5 Drizzle melted butter over the bread pieces, then sprinkle in the cooked sausage.
  • Step #6 Cover up with shredded cheese.
  • Step #7 In a medium bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, Dijon mustard, white wine, & green onions.
  • Step #8 Spice up with salt, black & red pepper.
  • Step #9 Pour the egg mixture over everything in the baking dish.
  • Step #10 Cover up, & put in the fridge overnight.
  • Step #11 Remove the dish from the refrigerator 30 mins prior to baking to allow it to come to about room temp.
  • Step #12 Preheat the oven to 325F degrees F (165 degrees C).
  • Step #13 Cover up the dish, & bake for 30 mins in the preheated oven.
  • Step #14 Then uncover, & bake for an extra 30 mins.
  • Step #15 Remove from the oven, & spread sour cream over the top.
  • Step #16 Sprinkle top with Parmesan cheese.
  • Step #17 Return to the oven for an extra 10 mins, or until cheese is starting to brown slightly.
