Fried Wontons Recipe

Ingredients
  • 1 tsp cornstarch .
  • 2 (6 oz) cans water chestnuts, finely sliced .
  • 1/4 c sliced green onions .
  • 1 beaten egg .
  • 1 lb wonton skins .
  • vegetable oil .
  • 1/4 lb ground pork .
  • 1/2 lb fresh shrimp (or frozen) .
  • 1/8 tsp sesame oil .
  • 1 tsp salt .
  • 1 dash white pepper

Directions
  • Step #1 Peel & devein shrimp.
  • Step #2 Chop shrimp finely.
  • Step #3 Mix shrimp, green onions, pork, salt, cornstarch, water chestnuts, sesame oil & white pepper.
  • Step #4 Place 1/2 tsps shrimp mixture in center of wonton.
  • Step #5 Fold bottom corner of wonton skin over filling to opposite corner, forming a triangle.
  • Step #6 Brush right corner of triangle with egg.
  • Step #7 Bring corners together below filling; pinch to right corner to seal.
  • Step #8 Repeat with remaining wonton skins.
  • Step #9 Heat oil (1 1/2 inches) in wok to 350 degrees.
  • Step #10 Fry 8-10 wontons at a time until golden brown.
  • Step #11 Drain on paper towel.
  • Step #12 Sere with sweet & sour sauce or hot mustard.
