- 2 tbsps grated orange peel .
- GLAZE .
- 1/3 c sugar .
- 1/2 c shortening .
- 1/4 c water .
- 2 eggs .
- 5-5 1/2 c flour .
- 1 tsp salt .
- 1 tbsp orange marmalade .
- 2 (1/4 oz) packages active dry yeast .
- 1/2 tsp butter, softened .
- 2 c powdered sugar .
- 1/4 c warm water .
- 1 c warm milk
Directions
- Step #1 Dissolve yeast in warm water.
- Step #2 Add milk, eggs, shortening, orange juice, salt, orange peel, sugar, & 3 c of flour - beat until smooth.
- Step #3 Stir in enough remaining flour to form a soft dough.
- Step #4 Knead until smooth & elastic (6-8 mins).
- Step #5 Place in a greased bowl, turn once.
- Step #6 Cover up & let rise until doubled (1 hr).
- Step #7 Punch dough down, & turn out onto a lightly floured surface.
- Step #8 Divide into 14 pieces & twist into ropes.
- Step #9 Place onto a greased cookie sheet, cover, & let rise until doubled (30 mins).
- Step #10 Bake at 375 degrees F 12-15 mins or until golden.
- Step #11 For Glaze:.
- Step #12 Mix together all ingredients & beat until mixed.
- Step #13 Drizzle over rolls & let set at least 10 mins.
