Cream Cheese-amond Bars Recipe

Ingredients
  • 2 tsps sugar .
  • 1 c sugar .
  • garnish toasted sliced almonds .
  • 1 tsp grated lemon rind .
  • 2 (8 oz) packages cream cheese, softened .
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon .
  • 1 large egg, lightly beaten .
  • 1/2 c butter, softened .
  • 1 c sifted powdered sugar .
  • 1 1/3 c all-purpose flour .
  • 2 tbsps milk .
  • 1 tbsp water .
  • 1 c sliced toasted almonds .
  • 1/2 tsp grated lemon rind

Directions
  • Step #1 Combine first 4 ingredients; beat at medium speed with an electric mixer until creamy.
  • Step #2 Gradually add flour, beating well.
  • Step #3 Press dough into a lightly greased 9-inch square pan.
  • Step #4 Set aside.
  • Step #5 Combine cream cheese, egg, 1 c sugar, & 1 tsps lemon rind; beat at medium speed until smooth.
  • Step #6 Stir in almonds; spoon mixture over prepared dough.
  • Step #7 Bake at 300F for 1 hr & 10 mins or until set.
  • Step #8 Combine powdered sugar, water, & cinnamon, stirring well.
  • Step #9 Dollop topping onto uncut warm bars.
  • Step #10 Let stand 1 min; spread evenly.
  • Step #11 Cool in pan on a wire rack.
  • Step #12 Cover up & chill 3 to 4 hrs.
  • Step #13 Cut into bars.
