Ingredients
100 g fresh mint .
50 g split peas .
2 large onions .
cooking oil .
500 g turnips .
200 g ground lamb or ground beef .
1/2 tsp turmeric .
100 g long grain rice or basmati rice .
salt .
black pepper
Directions
Step #1 Mix ground meat with grated onions, salt & black pepper.
Step #2 Shape into small balls, & fry in oil until colour changes.
Step #3 Add 4-5 glasses of hot water & split peas & cook over med-heat/flame for about 10 mins.
Step #4 Wash turnip & rice.
Step #5 Peel turnip & cut into a few pieces.
Step #6 Add both to aash.
Step #7 Also add turmeric, salt & black pepper.
Step #8 Mix well & cook over low heat/flame for about 15-20 mins, stirring every once in awhile.
Step #9 If using fresh mint, wash & chop finely.
Step #10 Fry mint in oil over med-heat/flame for 2-3 mins & pour over aash when serving.
