Ingredients
1 c sugar .
1/4 c butter or margarine .
1 c heavy whipping cream .
2 tbsps cornstarch .
Filling .
whipped cream (optional) .
1/4 c baking cocoa .
1 1/4 c all-purpose flour .
1/4 c finely sliced nuts .
1/2 c sugar .
Chocolate Pat-in-Pan Crust .
toasted sliced almonds (optional) .
3/4 c butter or margarine, softened .
3 oz unsweetened baking chocolate .
3 eggs .
1 tsp vanilla
Directions
Step #1 For Crust:.
Step #2 Heat oven to 325.
Step #3 Beat butter & sugar in large bowl with electric mixer on medium speed 1 min.
Step #4 Stir in cocoa & flour until mixture is crumbly.
Step #5 Press firmly & evenly against bottom & side of deep-dish pie plate 9x1 1/2 inches, or regular pie plate, 10 x 1 1/2 inches.
Step #6 Sprinkle top with nuts.
Step #7 Bake 20 to 25 mins or until edge appears dry.
Step #8 Cool completely -- about 45 mins.
Step #9 For Filling:.
Step #10 Melt butter & chocolate in 2 quart saucepan over low heat/flame, stirring every once in awhile; remove this from heat.
Step #11 Mix sugar & cornstarch with wire whisk, stir in theto chocolate mixture.
Step #12 Beat eggs in small bowl with electric mixer on medium speed about 5 mins or until thick & lemon colored; stir in theto chocolate mixture.
Step #13 Cook chocolate mixture over med-heat/flame 5 mins, stirring constantly, until thick & glossy.
Step #14 Stir in vanilla.
Step #15 Cool 10 mins, stirring every once in awhile.
Step #16 Beat whipping cream in chilled medium bowl with electric mixer on high speed until stiff.
Step #17 Fold chocolate mixture into whipped cream.
Step #18 Pour over crust.
Step #19 Cover up & freeze about 4 hrs or until firm.
Step #20 Remove from freezer; let this stand 30 mins before cutting.
Step #21 Top with whipped cream, sprinkle with almonds.
Step #22 Store covered in freezer.
