Browned Butter-pecan Shortbread Recipe

Ingredients
  • 3/4 c firmly packed brown sugar .
  • 1 1/2 c sliced toasted pecans .
  • 3 c all-purpose flour .
  • 3/4 c powdered sugar .
  • 1 1/2 c butter

Directions
  • Step #1 Cook butter in a small heavy saucepan over med-heat/flame, stirring constantly, 6 to 8 mins or until butter begins to turn golden brown.
  • Step #2 Remove pan from heat as soon as possible, & pour butter into a small bowl.
  • Step #3 Cover up & chill 1 hr or until butter is cool & begins to solidify.
  • Step #4 Beat butter at medium speed with an electric mixer until creamy.
  • Step #5 Gradually add brown sugar & powdered sugar, beating until smooth.
  • Step #6 Gradually add flour to butter mixture, beating at lowish speed just until mixed.
  • Step #7 Stir in pecans.
  • Step #8 Shape dough into 4 (8-inch) logs.
  • Step #9 Wrap logs tightly in plastic wrap, & chill 4 hrs or until firm.
  • Step #10 Cut logs into 1/4-inch-thick rounds; place on lightly greased baking sheets.
  • Step #11 Bake at 350° for 8 to 10 mins or until lightly browned.
  • Step #12 Transfer to wire racks to cool.
  • Step #13 **Cook time does not include butter chill time of one hr or dough chill time of 4 hrs.
