Tomato Bacon Chowder Recipe

Ingredients
  • 10 slices crisp cooked bacon .
  • 2-3 dashes nutmeg .
  • 1/4 c butter .
  • 1 (28 oz) can sliced tomatoes with juice .
  • 3/4 c half-and-half cream .
  • 1 (15 oz) can low-sodium low-fat chicken broth .
  • black pepper .
  • 4 tbsps flour

Directions
  • Step #1 In heavy saucepan melt butter.
  • Step #2 Stir in flour.
  • Step #3 Gradually whisk in half & half & chicken broth.
  • Step #4 Add nutmeg.
  • Step #5 Cook & stir until thickened over med-heat/flame.
  • Step #6 Stir in sliced tomatoes along with their juice.
  • Step #7 Dice bacon & add to soup mixture.
  • Step #8 Heat through & season this with black pepper.
