New England Bread Pudding Recipe

Ingredients
  • 3/4 c raisins .
  • 1 tsp cinnamon .
  • 3/4 c sugar .
  • 8 slices stale bread .
  • 1/8 tsp salt .
  • 3 eggs (beaten) .
  • 1/4 tsp nutmeg .
  • 4 c milk .
  • 2 tsps vanilla

Directions
  • Step #1 In an ungreased 3 quart baking dish tear up the bread in pieces.
  • Step #2 In another bowl pour boiling water over the raisins & drain.
  • Step #3 Add to the bread & mix up.
  • Step #4 In another bowl beat the eggs, vanilla, nutmeg, sugar, cinnamon, & salt.
  • Step #5 Add the milk to this.
  • Step #6 Mix well & pour over the bread & mix carefully.
  • Step #7 Set this dish in a pan of water & bake 350 degrees for 1 1/2 hrs.
  • Step #8 Serve with whipped cream dollops.
