Ingredients
1 1/2 c dates, pitted & sliced
1 tbsp butter, melted
2 3/4 c all-purpose flour
1 egg
1 tsp salt
1 1/2 c hot water
1 tsp vanilla extract
1 c sliced walnuts
2 tsps baking soda
1 c white sugar
Directions
Step #1 Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).
Step #2 Grease loaf pan.
Step #3 Pour the hot water over the dates & let this stand until cooled.
Step #4 Sift the flour & baking soda together add the sugar & salt.
Step #5 Stir in the cooled dates & water.
Step #6 Add the melted butter, beaten egg vanilla & walnuts.
Step #7 Mix well.
Step #8 Pour batter into the prepared pan.
Step #9 Bake at 350 degrees F (175 degrees C) for 1 hr or until a toothpick insert near the center comes out clean.
Step #10 Let bread cool in pan for 10 mins.
Step #11 Remove bread from pan & let cool on a wire rack.
