Herb Crusted Tofu With Mustard Horseradish Sauce Recipe

Ingredients
  • 1 tbsp water .
  • sauce .
  • 2 tsps prepared horseradish .
  • 14-16 oz extra firm tofu (waterpacked) .
  • 2 large eggs .
  • 3/4 c plain yogurt .
  • 1/2 tsp sliced fresh dill .
  • 1 1/2-2 tbsps coarse ground honey mustard .
  • minced fresh garlic, to taste .
  • assembly .
  • pepper, to taste .
  • 1/3 c breadcrumbs or matzo meal .
  • 1-2 tbsp canola oil .
  • 1 tsp sliced fresh dill or 1/2 tsp dried dill .
  • Crumb coating .
  • salt, to taste

Directions
  • Step #1 Cut the tofu into four lengthwise slices.
  • Step #2 In bowl whisk sauce ingredients together & set aside to let flavors mix.
  • Step #3 In second bowl mix coating & toss to mix.
  • Step #4 Spread evenly on small plate & set aside.
  • Step #5 In wide shallow bowl or a deep plate, mix eggs & water & beat well with fork.
  • Step #6 In large nonstick skillet heat oil over med heat.
  • Step #7 Arrange bowls of egg & coating nearby.
  • Step #8 Coat 1 slice tofu with egg then to crumb cover surface well then transfer to hot skillet.
  • Step #9 Repeat until finished.
  • Step #10 Cook tofu until crispy.
  • Step #11 about 2 mins Flip & crisp other side.
  • Step #12 Drizzle with sauce at table.
  • Step #13 NOTE: To get this tofu to crisp you MUST, I repeat MUST drain.
  • Step #14 To do this place the tofu on a slant board & place a heavy weight such as a plate & a cookbook on top of the tofu.
  • Step #15 Let it sit until the water stops running.
  • Step #16 You can change the texture of this by freezing the tofu.
  • Step #17 After freezing drain as directed.
  • Step #18 IF you do NOT DRAIN? It will NOT brown or get crispy.
