Violet's Apple Pie Recipe

Ingredients
  • FOR TOPPING .
  • 2 tbsps water .
  • 2 tbsps lemon juice .
  • 8 tbsps butter, room temperature .
  • 1/2 c brown sugar, firmly packed .
  • 2/3 c white sugar .
  • 1 c flour .
  • 1/2 tsp cinnamon .
  • 2 tbsps butter .
  • 1/4 tsp nutmeg .
  • 8 large tart apples, peeled & thinly sliced

Directions
  • Step #1 Preheat oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit.
  • Step #2 In large bowl, stir this together sugar, cinnamon & nutmeg.
  • Step #3 Add apples & sprinkle on water & lemon juice; toss until evenly coated.
  • Step #4 Spoon into 9" deep dish pie pan with or without crust.
  • Step #5 Dot with butter.
  • Step #6 Prepare topping by combining brown sugar, butter & flour & stir until smooth.
  • Step #7 Dab topping onto apples.
  • Step #8 Bake in pre-heated oven for 50 to 60 mins.
  • Step #9 Serve plain or top this with vanilla ice cream, whipped cream or cheese.
