Bourbon-praline Sauce Recipe

Ingredients
  • 1/2 c packed dark brown sugar .
  • 2 tbsps milk .
  • 1/2 c whipping cream .
  • 2 tbsps unsalted butter .
  • 1/2 c coarsely sliced pecans .
  • 2 tbsps cornstarch .
  • 1 tsp vanilla .
  • 1 dash salt .
  • 1 tbsp bourbon or dark rum, if desired

Directions
  • Step #1 place pecans & butter in heavy medium saucepan.
  • Step #2 Cook over med-heat/flame 4 mins or until nuts are toasted, stirring frequently.
  • Step #3 Add 1/2 c dark brown sugar & 1/2 c cream; stir until smooth.
  • Step #4 In small bowl, mix 2 tbsps milk & cornstarch.
  • Step #5 Stir cornstarch mixture into sauce.
  • Step #6 Increase heat to medium-high; cook this until mixture comes to a boil, stirring constantly.
  • Step #7 Boil 2 mins or until thickened, stirring constantly.
  • Step #8 Remove from heat; stir in the 1 tbsp bourbon, 1 tsp vanilla & dash salt.
  • Step #9 Serve warm.
  • Step #10 (Store sauce, covered, in refrigerator.
  • Step #11 If too thick after reheating, stir in the 1 to 2 tbsps milk.
