Ingredients
1/2 c packed dark brown sugar .
2 tbsps milk .
1/2 c whipping cream .
2 tbsps unsalted butter .
1/2 c coarsely sliced pecans .
2 tbsps cornstarch .
1 tsp vanilla .
1 dash salt .
1 tbsp bourbon or dark rum, if desired
Directions
Step #1 place pecans & butter in heavy medium saucepan.
Step #2 Cook over med-heat/flame 4 mins or until nuts are toasted, stirring frequently.
Step #3 Add 1/2 c dark brown sugar & 1/2 c cream; stir until smooth.
Step #4 In small bowl, mix 2 tbsps milk & cornstarch.
Step #5 Stir cornstarch mixture into sauce.
Step #6 Increase heat to medium-high; cook this until mixture comes to a boil, stirring constantly.
Step #7 Boil 2 mins or until thickened, stirring constantly.
Step #8 Remove from heat; stir in the 1 tbsp bourbon, 1 tsp vanilla & dash salt.
Step #9 Serve warm.
Step #10 (Store sauce, covered, in refrigerator.
Step #11 If too thick after reheating, stir in the 1 to 2 tbsps milk.
