Down East Fisherman's Stew Recipe

Ingredients
  • 1 1/2 lbs lobsters (cooked & picked) .
  • 4 c whole milk (part half & half) .
  • 1 1/2 c water .
  • 2 tsps salt .
  • 4 tbsps butter .
  • 1 1/2 lbs haddock .
  • 1/8 tsp pepper .
  • 2 slices bacon (sliced & fried) .
  • 4 c cubed raw potatoes .
  • 1 large onion (sliced)

Directions
  • Step #1 Cook the lobster about 18 mins & put on platter to cool & collect the lobster juice; save.
  • Step #2 Dice & fry the bacon & set aside; saving grease.
  • Step #3 Slice the onions & put in pan with the bacon grease & the butter; cook till almost done; add the water part of which is the reserved lobster liquid.
  • Step #4 Lay the haddock on top of the onion; cover & steam till haddock is done.
  • Step #5 Add the sliced potatoes & steam till almost done.
  • Step #6 Add the salt & pepper.
  • Step #7 Stir carefully.
  • Step #8 Add the milk; simmer BUT DO NOT BOIL for about 20 mins.
  • Step #9 Make the day before to mix flavors.
