Starbucks Date Scones Recipe

Ingredients
  • 1/4 c natural bran .
  • 1/2 c unsalted butter, chilled .
  • 1 1/2 c all-purpose flour .
  • 1/4 c brown sugar .
  • 2 tsps baking powder .
  • 2 tsps cinnamon .
  • 1 tsp salt .
  • 2/3 c sliced dates .
  • 2/3 c buttermilk .
  • 1/2 c whole wheat flour .
  • 1/2 tsp baking soda .
  • 1 egg

Directions
  • Step #1 Combine the all-purpose & whole wheat flours, salt, baking powder, the bran, soda, cinnamon & brown sugar.
  • Step #2 Cut in the butter.
  • Step #3 (Or mix in a food processor/blender, just until crumbly.
  • Step #4 ) Add the egg, buttermilk, & dates; do not overmix.
  • Step #5 (If the dough seems too sticky to work with add a couple more tbsps flour.
  • Step #6 ) Shape the dough into a rectangle about 1 inch thick on a floured surface.
  • Step #7 Cut into 12 triangles.
  • Step #8 Bake on an ungreased baking sheet in a preheated 350 degree F oven about 25 mins.
  • Step #9 Cool on a rack.
