Chive And Cheddar Biscuits Recipe

Ingredients
  • 1/2 c cheddar cheese, shredded .
  • 1/2 c chives, sliced .
  • 2 tbsps baking powder .
  • 2 tbsps buttermilk or sour milk .
  • 1 tbsp sugar .
  • 3/4 c buttermilk or sour milk .
  • 2 tbsps heavy cream .
  • 1/2 tsp baking soda .
  • 2 c flour .
  • 8 tbsps butter (1 stick butter) .
  • 1 1/2 tsps salt (I used less about 1 tsp)

Directions
  • Step #1 Preheat oven to 450-degrees F.
  • Step #2 In a large bowl mix dry ingredients together (flour - baking soda).
  • Step #3 Cut in butter using two knives or a pastry cutter until mixture is about the size of peas.
  • Step #4 Stir in buttermilk, cheese & chives, stirring with a fork to form a loose dough.
  • Step #5 Turn dough out onto a floured board, kneading dough a few times (about 10) & then pat into a 6-inch x 9-inch rectangle; fold into thirds like a letter & then pat into a 6 x 9 inch rectangle again.
  • Step #6 Dip edges of 3-inch biscuit cutter into flour (I used a coffee mug) & cut out 6 biscuits; transferring biscuits to a cookie sheet that has been sprayed with Pam or lined with parchment paper.
  • Step #7 Form & cut dough for another biscuit or two (I ended up whit 7 biscuits).
  • Step #8 Brush tops of biscuits with cream.
  • Step #9 Bake for 14-16 mins or until biscuits are browned.
