Slow-cooked Beer-braised Beef Recipe

Ingredients
  • 1 onion, sliced .
  • 3 lbs beef chuck roast .
  • 1 tsp soy sauce .
  • 1 tsp pepper .
  • 1 tbsp canola oil .
  • 12 oz beer .
  • 4 tsps dried basil

Directions
  • Step #1 To use a slow cooker (aka crockpot), omit oil & place beef directly into cooker.
  • Step #2 Top with remaining ingredients.
  • Step #3 Cook on high for 1 hr.
  • Step #4 Reduce heat to low & cook for 5 hrs or until roast is very tender.
  • Step #5 If you don't have a slow cooker (aka crockpot), heat a large pot over high heat.
  • Step #6 Add oil.
  • Step #7 Brown roast on all sides.
  • Step #8 Add beer, soy sauce, onion, pepper & basil; bring to a boil.
  • Step #9 Cover up & place pot in 275 degree oven for 7-9 hrs, or until meat is tender.
  • Step #10 Leftovers can be stored in the refrigerator, with juices, sliced, for up to 3 days.
