Divine Spaghetti Sauce Recipe

Ingredients
  • 2 green bell peppers, sliced
  • 4 bay leaves
  • 1 lb spaghetti
  • 2 tbsps sliced fresh basil
  • 2 (6 oz) cans tomato paste
  • 5 tbsps Italian seasoning
  • 2 (28 oz) cans whole peeled tomatoes
  • 15 fresh mushrooms, sliced
  • 1 large onion, sliced
  • 1 red bell pepper, sliced
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 lb lean ground beef
  • 1 tsp dried red pepper flakes
  • 4 stalks celery, sliced

Directions
  • Step #1 In a large skillet, brown beef over med-heat/flame until no longer pink; cut up any remaining chunks of beef & reserve.
  • Step #2 In a large saucepan, mix whole tomatoes & paste; mash until smooth.
  • Step #3 Cover & heat on low.
  • Step #4 In a large skillet over med-heat/flame, quickly sear onion & celery until transparent; add to tomato sauce in saucepan.
  • Step #5 In same skillet, saute bell peppers & mushrooms for a few mins, but do not allow them to become soft; add to tomato sauce.
  • Step #6 Add Italian seasoning, bay leaves, dried red pepper flakes, basil & garlic to tomato sauce; add beef & mix.
  • Step #7 Remove cover, simmer over low heat/flame & continue to simmer all day, stirring every once in awhile.
  • Step #8 Bring a large pot of lightly salted water to a boil.
  • Step #9 Add pasta & cook for 8 to 10 mins or until al dente; drain.
  • Step #10 Add sauce to pasta; serve.
