Liang Pan Chich Lan Recipe

Ingredients
  • 1/2 tsp salt .
  • 1 tbsp Braggs liquid aminos or light soy sauce .
  • 1/2 tsp baking soda, see note .
  • 1 quart water .
  • 1 tbsp dark sesame oil, see note .
  • 2 c broccoli stems .
  • Dressing .
  • 1/2 tsp sugar

Directions
  • Step #1 Note: The baking soda must be added to get the bright green color.
  • Step #2 Do NOT use light cooking sesame oil.
  • Step #3 You want the dark smoky kind.
  • Step #4 Peel tough outer layer from the stalks & rinse.
  • Step #5 Now cut off flowerets including 1 inch of the stem in the cut.
  • Step #6 Use the flowerets in another dish.
  • Step #7 Now the stems.
  • Step #8 Cut into 1 1/2 X 1/2 X 1/2 inch strips [or close] or 1/4 inch diagonal slices to make about 2 c.
  • Step #9 In sauce pan boil the water then add stems & soda.
  • Step #10 Parboil for 1 min.
  • Step #11 Drain & rinse in cold water.
  • Step #12 Dry with paper towels & set in mixing bowl.
  • Step #13 Add dressing ingredients.
  • Step #14 Mix well.
  • Step #15 Chill Serve cold.
