Mocha Twists Recipe

Ingredients
  • 1/4 tsp salt .
  • 3 tbsps milk .
  • 3 tbsps unsweetened cocoa powder .
  • 1 recipe cocoa glaze .
  • 3/4 tsp baking powder .
  • 2 1/4 c all-purpose flour .
  • 1 egg .
  • 1 tbsp unsweetened cocoa powder .
  • 1 c butter, softened .
  • 2/3 c sugar .
  • 1 tsp instant coffee crystals .
  • 2 c powdered sugar .
  • 1 tsp vanilla

Directions
  • Step #1 In mixing bowl beat butter with mixer on medium to high speed for 30 seconds.
  • Step #2 Add sugar, coffee crystals, cocoa powder, baking powder, & salt; beat until mixd.
  • Step #3 Beat in egg & vanilla.
  • Step #4 Beat in as much flour as you can with mixer.
  • Step #5 Using wooden spoon, stir in the remaining flour.
  • Step #6 Divide dough in half; wrap.
  • Step #7 Chill dough 1 to 2 hrs or until easy to handle.
  • Step #8 Preheat oven to 375 degrees F.
  • Step #9 Divide each dough half into 24 pieces.
  • Step #10 On lightly floured surface, roll each dough piece in 6-inch rope.
  • Step #11 Twist 2 ropes together; pinch ends to seal.
  • Step #12 Place ropes 2 inches apart on ungreased cookie sheets.
  • Step #13 Bake about 8 mins or until edges are firm.
  • Step #14 Cool on cookie sheets for 5 mins.
  • Step #15 Transfer to wire racks; cool completely.
  • Step #16 Dip one end of each twist in Cocoa Glaze, allowing excess to drip off.
  • Step #17 Place on waxed paper until set.
  • Step #18 Makes 24 twists.
  • Step #19 Cocoa Glaze: In a bowl mix 2 c powdered sugar, 1 tbsp unsweetened cocoa powder, & enough milk (about 3 tbsps) to make glazing consistency.
