Chicken Karhaai Recipe

Ingredients
  • 1/4 c vegetable oil
  • 3 tbsps ginger paste
  • 2 tsps black peppercorns, coarsely crushed
  • 2 serrano chile peppers, or to taste (optional)
  • 1/2 c water
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/4 c sliced fresh tomato
  • 1 (4 lb) whole chicken, cut into 16 pieces

Directions
  • Step #1 Heat oil over medium-high heat in a large pan.
  • Step #2 Lightly brown the chicken on all sides in the oil.
  • Step #3 Turn heat to low, then stir in the the tomato, serrano peppers, ginger paste, crushed peppercorn, & salt.
  • Step #4 Cover, & let simmer for 15 mins.
  • Step #5 Pour in the water & turn the pieces of chicken over.
  • Step #6 Cover, & continue cooking until the chicken is done, about 15 mins more, adding extra water as necessary.
