Rosemary Hearth Bread Recipe

Ingredients
  • 1 tbsp baking powder .
  • 1/4 c water (warm) .
  • 3/4 tsp salt .
  • 1 tbsp dry active yeast .
  • 3 c flour .
  • 1/4 c vegetable shortening .
  • 2 tbsps sugar .
  • 1 c buttermilk .
  • olive oil .
  • 2 tbsps fresh rosemary

Directions
  • Step #1 Dissolve yeast in the warm water.
  • Step #2 Stir in 1 1/2 c of the flour & the remaining ingredients until smooth.
  • Step #3 Stir in the remaining 1 1/2 c of flour until dough forms.
  • Step #4 Knead dough until smooth.
  • Step #5 Cover up & let rise for 10 mins.
  • Step #6 Grease a cookie sheet.
  • Step #7 Shape dough into a round loaf.
  • Step #8 Place on cookie sheet.
  • Step #9 Cover up & let rise for 30 mins.
  • Step #10 Heat oven to 350°F.
  • Step #11 Cut an X shape 1/2 inch deep into the top of the bread.
  • Step #12 Brush olive oil onto bread.
  • Step #13 Bake 35 mins or until golden brown.
  • Step #14 Serve hot or cold with olive oil.
