Moroccan Meatballs In Spicy Sauce Recipe

Ingredients
  • 1/4 tsp salt .
  • 1 1/2 lbs lean ground beef .
  • 1/4 tsp ground cinnamon .
  • 1 large egg white .
  • cooking spray .
  • 1/2 tsp ground cumin .
  • 1/2 tsp salt .
  • 1/4 c dried currants .
  • 1 tsp grated orange rind (use rasp) .
  • 1/2 c plain breadcrumbs .
  • 1/2 tsp dried oregano .
  • 1/4 tsp ground cinnamon .
  • 1/4 c tomato paste .
  • 1/4 tsp ground red pepper .
  • 1 (28 oz) can sliced tomatoes .
  • 1/2 tsp ground cumin .
  • 1 tsp fennel seeds .
  • Sauce .
  • 1/4 c finely sliced onions .
  • Meatballs

Directions
  • Step #1 Combine the first 9 ingredients In a large-ish bowl.
  • Step #2 Shape into 30 meatballs.
  • Step #3 Heat a large non-stick skillet over medium high heat.
  • Step #4 Coat the pan with cooking spray.
  • Step #5 Add half of the meatballs to the pan, cook 3 mins or until browned, stirring frequently.
  • Step #6 Place browned meatballs in a slow cooker (aka crockpot), & brown the remaining meatballs.
  • Step #7 Combine the tomato paste & next 7 ingredients.
  • Step #8 Add to the slow cooker (aka crockpot) with the remaining meatballs.
  • Step #9 Cover up & cook on LOW for 6 hrs.
  • Step #10 Serve over couscous if desired.
