Puff Pastry Christmas Trees Recipe

Ingredients
  • 1/3 c honey, warmed .
  • green sugar crystals .
  • 1 (17 oz) package frozen puff pastry sheets (2 sheets) .
  • 8 raspberries or maraschino cherries, halves .
  • 1/3 c lime curd or prepared pudding or prepared vegetarian pudding

Directions
  • Step #1 Thaw pastry sheets at about room temp for 30 mins.
  • Step #2 Preheat oven to 400º F.
  • Step #3 Unfold 1 pastry sheet on lightly floured surface.
  • Step #4 Cut 4 stars (or any shape appropriate for the occasion)of each size.
  • Step #5 Use 3 star cookie cutters in graduated sizes (2-inch, 2½-inch, & 3-inch cookie cutters or Cardboard patterns).
  • Step #6 Repeat with remaining pastry sheet.
  • Step #7 Place stars on baking sheets.
  • Step #8 Bake 10 mins or until golden.
  • Step #9 Remove from baking sheets & cool on wire rack.
  • Step #10 To assemble trees:.
  • Step #11 Top large star pastry with 1 tsp pudding/curd.
  • Step #12 NOTE:.
  • Step #13 If using pudding you might want to use pistachio, or tint vanilla or cheesecake flavor green.
  • Step #14 Top with medium star pastry, turning star so points do not line up.
  • Step #15 Top with 1 tsp pudding/curd & place small star pastry on top, turning so points do not line up.
  • Step #16 Repeat with remaining star pastries, making 8 trees.
  • Step #17 Drizzle trees with honey.
  • Step #18 Sprinkle top with green sugar (or color of your choice) & top each with a raspberry or cherry half.
  • Step #19 NOTE: Obviously there are many variations of this, fitting many occasions.
  • Step #20 Change the jelly; pudding for lemon curd; etc.
