Cream Cheese Coffee Cakes Recipe

Ingredients
  • 2 (.25 oz) packages active dry yeast
  • CREAM CHEESE FILLING:
  • 1/2 c sugar
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1/2 c butter or margarine
  • 1/4 c milk
  • 2 tsps vanilla extract
  • 1/2 c sugar
  • 1/2 c warm water (110 degrees F to 115 degrees F)
  • 1 egg
  • GLAZE:
  • 1 c sour cream
  • 1 1/2 tsps vanilla extract
  • 2 c confectioners' sugar
  • 5 c all-purpose flour
  • 2 eggs, lightly beaten
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 11 oz cream cheese, softened

Directions
  • Step #1 In a saucepan, melt butter over low heat/flame.
  • Step #2 Remove from the heat.
  • Step #3 Stir in sour cream, sugar & salt; cool to 110 degrees F-115 degrees F.
  • Step #4 In a mixing bowl, dissolve yeast in warm water.
  • Step #5 Add the eggs, sour cream mixture & 2 c flour; beat until smooth.
  • Step #6 Stir in enough remaining flour to form a stiff dough.
  • Step #7 Turn onto a floured surface; knead until smooth & elastic, about 6-8 mins.
  • Step #8 Place in a greased bowl, turning once to grease top.
  • Step #9 Cover & let rise in a warm place until doubled, about 1 hr.
  • Step #10 In a mixing bowl, beat filling ingredients until smooth; set aside.
  • Step #11 Punch dough down.
  • Step #12 Turn onto a lightly floured surface; divide into four portions.
  • Step #13 Roll each into a 12-in.
  • Step #14 x 10-in.
  • Step #15 rectangle; spread with filling.
  • Step #16 Roll up jelly-roll style, starting with a long side; pinch seam to seal & tuck ends under.
  • Step #17 Place seam side down on greased baking sheets.
  • Step #18 With a scissors, cut two-thirds of the way through dough at 1-in.
  • Step #19 intervals.
  • Step #20 Cover & let rise until doubled, about 45 mins.
  • Step #21 Bake at 350 degrees F for 15-20 mins or until golden brown.
  • Step #22 Remove from pans to wire racks to cool.
  • Step #23 Combine glaze ingredients; drizzle over coffee cakes.
