Cinnamon Twists Recipe

Ingredients
  • 3/4 c warm water (110 degrees to 115 degrees F), divided
  • 1 (.25 oz) package active dry yeast
  • 1/4 c butter or margarine, softened
  • 1/4 c sugar
  • 1 1/2 tsps salt
  • 4 tsps ground cinnamon
  • 4 c all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 c butter or margarine, melted
  • 1/2 c packed brown sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 1/2 c warm milk (110 to 115 degrees F)
  • FILLING:

Directions
  • Step #1 In a large mixing bowl, dissolve yeast in 1/4 c warm water.
  • Step #2 Add 2 c of flour, milk, sugar, salt, butter, egg & remaining water; beat on medium speed for mins.
  • Step #3 Stir in enough remaining flour to form a soft dough.
  • Step #4 Turn onto a floured surface; knead until smooth & elastic, about 6-8 mins.
  • Step #5 Place in a greased bowl, turning once to grease top.
  • Step #6 Cover & let rise in a warm place until doubled, about 1 hr.
  • Step #7 Punch down.
  • Step #8 Roll into a 16-in.
  • Step #9 x 12-in.
  • Step #10 rectangle.
  • Step #11 Brush with butter.
  • Step #12 Combine brown sugar & cinnamon; sprinkle it over butter.
  • Step #13 Let dough rest for 6 mins.
  • Step #14 Cut lengthwise into three 16-in.
  • Step #15 x 4-in.
  • Step #16 x strips.
  • Step #17 Cut each strip into sixteen 4-in.
  • Step #18 x 1-in.
  • Step #19 pieces.
  • Step #20 Twist & place on greased baking sheets.
  • Step #21 Cover & let rise until doubled, about 30 mins.
  • Step #22 Bake at 350 degrees F for 15 mins or until golden brown.
