Drunken Winter Stew Recipe

Ingredients
  • 1 tbsp prepared Dijon-style mustard
  • 3 c water
  • 1 (12 fluid oz) can beer
  • salt to taste
  • 1/4 c sliced onion
  • 1/4 tbsp garlic powder
  • 3 potatoes, peeled & cubed
  • 1 (15 oz) can kidney beans, drained & rinsed
  • 1/2 medium head cabbage, sliced
  • ground black pepper to taste

Directions
  • Step #1 Bring potatoes, onions, & water to a boil, lower heat to simmer.
  • Step #2 Add cabbage & mustard.
  • Step #3 Slowly add about 1/2 the beer (it will foam up a bit).
  • Step #4 Cover loosely.
  • Step #5 Let simmer 15 mins, stirring every once in awhile.
  • Step #6 Add the beans, spices, & more/all of the beer to taste.
  • Step #7 Remove lid, let simmer another 10 mins or until potatoes are tender.
  • Step #8 Add water if necessary.
  • Step #9 Re-spice if needed before serving.
