2 pieces thick-sliced bacon, cut into 1/2 inch pieces .

Directions
Step #1 Cook bacon in medium saucepan over medium-high heat until browned, turning frequently; transfer bacon with slotted spoon to paper towels to drain & set aside.
Step #2 Add orzo to saucepan, & cook & stir 3 to 4 mins.
Step #3 Add shallots, & cook & stir until shallots are tender & orzo is golden, 3 to 4 mins longer.
Step #4 Add rice, stirring to coat with fat.
Step #5 Add broth, water & salt.
Step #6 Bring to boil, reduce to simmer, cover, & cook this until liquid is absorbed, 15 to 18 mins.
