Italian Beef Recipe

Ingredients
  • 4 lbs beef roast (or smaller) .
  • sweet basil .
  • 3 beef bouillon cubes .
  • oregano .
  • vegetable oil .
  • 1 (4 oz) bottle garlic salt

Directions
  • Step #1 Put enough oil In a large-ish pan to measure 1 inch.
  • Step #2 Brown roast on all sides in oil.
  • Step #3 Add enough water to cover meat.
  • Step #4 Add garlic salt, oregano, basil & boullion cubes.
  • Step #5 Use oregano & basil to your taste, probably start out with at least 2 tsps of each.
  • Step #6 Simmer 3 hrs (or less, depending on size of roast).
  • Step #7 Take roast from gravy & let cool overnight, reserving gravy.
  • Step #8 Next day, slice beef as thinly as possible, return to gravy & heat through.
  • Step #9 Serve on Italian bread or rolls.
