Barbecued Beef On Buns Recipe

Ingredients
  • water .
  • 1/2 tsp garlic salt .
  • 1 medium onion, sliced .
  • 1/4 c brown sugar, packed .
  • 2 tsps worcestershire sauce .
  • 1 (3 lb) boneless beef chuck roast .
  • 1/2 tsp paprika .
  • 2 tsps salt .
  • 3 drops hot pepper sauce .
  • 1/2 c celery, sliced .
  • 1 1/2 c ketchup .
  • hamburger buns .
  • 1 tsp chili powder .
  • 2 tbsps ground mustard .
  • 1/4 c vinegar

Directions
  • Step #1 Place beef, onion & celery in a Dutch oven; add water to almost cover meat.
  • Step #2 Bring to a boil; reduce heat.
  • Step #3 Cover up & let simmer for 3 hrs or until meat is tender.
  • Step #4 Remove meat; strain & reserve cooking liquid.
  • Step #5 Trim & shred meat; return to Dutch oven.
  • Step #6 Add 2 c of strained cooking liquid (save remaining cooking liquid) & chill in the fridge.
  • Step #7 Skim & discard fat.
  • Step #8 Add ketchup, brown sugar, vinegar & seasonings.
  • Step #9 Cover up & let simmer for 1 hr, stirring every once in awhile.
  • Step #10 If mixture becomes too thick, add extra reserved cooking liquid.
  • Step #11 Serve on hamburger buns.
