No-knead Knot Rolls Recipe

Ingredients
  • 1/2 c sugar .
  • 6-6 1/2 c all-purpose flour .
  • 2 tsps salt .
  • 1/2 c butter, softened .
  • 2 (1/4 oz) packages active dry yeast .
  • 2 c warm water (110 degrees to 115 degrees) .
  • 1/2 c shortening .
  • 1 egg

Directions
  • Step #1 In mixing bowl, dissolve yeast in warm water.
  • Step #2 Add the sugar, salt & 2 c flour.
  • Step #3 Beat on medium speed for 2 mins.
  • Step #4 Add egg & shortening; mix well.
  • Step #5 Stir in enough remaining flour to form a soft dough (do not knead).
  • Step #6 Cover up & put in the fridge overnight.
  • Step #7 Punch dough down & divide into four portions.
  • Step #8 Shape one portion into a 14-inch x 12-inch rectangle.
  • Step #9 Spread 2 T butter over dough.
  • Step #10 Fold in half lengthwise; cut into 12 strips.
  • Step #11 Tie each strip into a knot; tuck & pinch ends under.
  • Step #12 Place 2 inches apart on greased baking sheets.
  • Step #13 Repeat with remaining dough.
  • Step #14 Cover up & let rise until doubled, about 1 hr.
  • Step #15 Bake at 400F degrees for 10-12 mins.
