Meatballs With Cream Sauce Recipe

Ingredients
  • 2 tbsps ketchup .
  • 1 tsp salt .
  • Meatballs .
  • 2 tbsps flour .
  • 2 tbsps butter .
  • 1/4 tsp dried thyme .
  • 1/4 c finely sliced onions .
  • 2 c chicken broth .
  • 2 tbsps minced fresh parsley .
  • 1 large egg, beaten .
  • salt & pepper .
  • Cream sauce .
  • 1 1/2 lbs lean ground beef .
  • 3/4 c quick-cooking oats .
  • 2/3 c heavy cream .
  • 1/4 c minced fresh parsley .
  • 2 tsps worcestershire sauce .
  • 3 tbsps all-purpose flour .
  • 1/4 tsp pepper .
  • 1/4 c milk

Directions
  • Step #1 In a bowl, mix the first nine ingredients.
  • Step #2 Add beef & mix well.
  • Step #3 Shape into 1 1/2 inch balls.
  • Step #4 Roll in flour, shaking off excess.
  • Step #5 Place 1 inch apart on greased 15x10x1 inch baking pans.
  • Step #6 Bake uncovered at 400F (205C) for 10 mins.
  • Step #7 Turn meatballs; bake 12-15 mins longer or until done.
  • Step #8 Meanwhile, for sauce, melt butter in a sauce pan over med-heat/flame.
  • Step #9 Stir in flour, thyme, salt & pepper until smooth.
  • Step #10 Cook for one min or so.
  • Step #11 Gradually add broth & cream, bring to a boil, stiring every once in awhile.
  • Step #12 Cook & stir for 2 mins or until thickened & bubbly.
  • Step #13 Drain meatballs on paper towels, transfer to a serving dish.
  • Step #14 Top with sauce, sprinkle with parsley.
  • Step #15 (when I made these at the party I put them in a crockpot to keep warm, that worked really well).
